More and more people are choosing to take the environmentally friendly option for city travel: the bus. To support this positive trend and accommodate increasing numbers of passengers, the Hamburg senate and parliament have approved a pioneering design for Hamburg's bus system. This new system will expand capacities, and improve punctuality, convenience and accessibility.

Hamburg buses receive priority at traffic lights in front of the rest of the traffic, intersections and bus stops are rebuilt, new bus lanes were set up.
